Research: Cancer and work
We have been collaborating with Loughborough University to conduct research for Macmillan Cancer Support in the field of cancer and work. The aim of this research was to develop practical, evidence-based tools to support people with cancer and their carers in dealing with work-related issues.
- 'Work it Out: the essential questions to ask about work': This first project developed a 'power questions' tool that aimed to empower people with cancer to return to, or stay in, work. The tool features questions designed to help an individual with cancer to gather information from the relevant people (medical team, OH, HR, line manager, support agencies etc) in oder that they can take decisions about work in the way that best suits them. The tool, can be downloaded from the Macmillan website - click here.
- 'Work it out for carers': A further project took a similar approach, but this time developed a self-management tool for those caring for a person with cancer while working. It is also available from the Macmillan website - click here.
